Nana Joan
Brittany's Nana fought a long battle and finally surrendered on January 20, 2014. Such a beautiful woman. She loved you so much and every time I say her she always had something special to say about you. Even when her own daughter left this earth, she still talked about you to me and how she missed you and what a special person you were. She didn't have to tell me, I already knew it but I loved to talk to her about you!

Danielle turned 24!
Hard to believe that she is 24 already. It seems like yesterday that you and her were walking down the aisle at Aunt Alicia's wedding. She has grown to be a very special young lady in our lives. She remember you, she talks about you, says your name but most of all I know that she misses you too. Watch over her like you did when you were here. She still needs you. Love Mom

Christmas Eve Sign
Thank you for all the signs. When I least expect them but need them the most, they show up. Others don't understand what they mean to me but that is OK. They don't understand period. Everywhere I go I am always looking for them. Sometimes they are not easy to find. I think you enjoy making me work for them! Autumn, Raegan and I went to church for Christmas Eve and low and behold you gave us a sign... a heart of course on Raegan's cheek. Love you and wish you were here to celebrate Christmas with us.

Ice Skating at Disneyland
This year we took Raegan to Disneyland so that she could ice skate. It was in Downtown Disney and it was just a little rink but she was so excited. We invited Elle (Danielle), Adrien, Alyssa and Aunt Karen. Rae was so excited for them to come and have this experience with her. She loved it! At first she really didn't know how to do it but after awhile she caught on and there was no stopping her! I wish that you could have seen her. I am sure that you wouldn't have gotten on the ice but you would have enjoyed watching her and the look on her face. Memories I so wish you were here for. Love and miss you. Mom

Decorating for Christmas
Here we all are again. Every year we all get together to remember you and decorate your tree. Almost everything is blue and silver because we always will remember how you disliked red. Notice the BUD LIGHT beer cans? The tree wouldn't be the same without them. Wishing you were here so we didn't have to do this Son. Love you and miss you more and more everyday. Love Mom

Another Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving Davey. I can't believe we had another one without you. I remember how you loved cranberry sauce and when I see it, it makes me smile and remember those happy memories. We had Thanksgiving the week before the actual day because that was when we would have Raegan and we wanted to share the holiday with her. On Thanksgiving I drove out and had dinner with Gramma and Papa George, Aunt Jenise and Aunt Louise and had a nice day with them. Of course we decorated for you.... I love you. Mom

The Edge
Well, they never found our car. Not sure what happened to it. I kept waiting for whoever took it to bring it back. I think I was in denial, as I am over a lot of things in life. We decided on a Ford Edge to replace it. It is nice but I would much rather have your car back. It is black...Dad calls it "Batman Black". It already has a Batman sticker too. I wish you were here so it could be yours... Miss you.

Halloween 2013
Another Halloween without you. I can't say if our decorations are getting better or worse. I think the things we buy are better but we are getting worse and worse in that every year we buy more and more stuff. Pretty soon I won't be able to park in the garage!! I just wish we didn't have to decorate here.....

Your TrailBlazer
Someone decided sometime early in the morning on October 22, that they wanted to steal your car. Dad parked it in the driveway that morning when he came home from work but when he went out later to go to Nana's it was gone. No broken glass or noise at all. They must have known what they were doing. I talked to Shawn later in the day and we decided that you must have needed a ride to the liquor store so you came and got it!! We have to make something up or we will go insane. Drive safely!!

A Brown Funeral
Today I went to your Great Great Aunt Lucille's funeral. I met some cousins that I had never met before. They are Michael Brown's children. I was amazed at how much the boys looked like you!! I am sure they thought I was some crazy woman asking to take their picture but I had to. I couldn't take my eyes off of them and knew I would be upset forever if I didn't get a picture.
From left to right:
Dave, Daniel, Kristy and Kelly
And the one that looks like you....his name is Dave! Crazy right? I wish you were here to see this...

3 years...
It is hard to believe that another year has passed. It seems like yesterday that I said good bye
to you at the back door, but then it seems like forever ago. Dad, Autumn, Raegan and I spent the day at
Rose Hills. We know that you are not
there but we dedicate the whole day to you.
We had lunch out there and visit with anyone that comes by. It is very peaceful there. Raegan doesn’t really understand yet where
you are. Autumn told her that you were
in Heaven with the Angels. Raegan wanted
to know if you were playing baseball there!
Of course she told her yes. Now
she knows that Stevie is there too. What
a surprised that was right? I know that
you are together and that helps me get through the days too. I miss that crazy little boy but nothing compared to how I miss
you. I have good “Davey Days” and bad “Davey
Days”. I can’t say why some are better
than the others but I will take any of them!
Good or bad. The memories that we
shared can never be replaced and I am trying to hold on to each and every one
of them. I pray that as time goes on
that I don’t forget them. Brittany helps
with the ones that she has of you. She
tells me some wild stories about you Dave!!!
Crazy Crazy Crazy
Each night when I go to bed, I thank God for the time that
he gave me with you but I wish it were longer.
I take solace in knowing that you are in Heaven and can never ever be
hurt again and that I know where you are. Of course I wish you were here but if not
here, then where else but in Heaven right?
I know that your time here was short, but Earth was just a quick stop
before your eternal life in Heaven. I
have to remember that you are not “gone” but that you have moved on to the next
step and that one day I will join you. We all will but we have to wait our
turn.
Keep the signs coming!
We all love the 8’s and the Batman signs.
Love Mom
Yes I still bring you flowers.....always will

Stevie
Steven James Chavez
2003-2013
Today we set Stevie free from his suffering and into your arms. We knew from day one that he was a special little guy. With only one kidney, we knew that one day he might have issues later on in life. He was a happy boy from day one, if he liked you! I remember him hiding under the couch when strangers would come over and barking. Tough guy! Under the couch was his safe haven and where he hoarded everything! From baby pacifiers to toys to bones to just about anything that he thought was his. Poor Bruce almost had to go to the ER because Stevie hoarded all the bones and I thought that Bruce had swallowed one whole. He loved his sweaters and to be covered up. Even when it was 100 degrees, he thought he needed to be under the covers and would bark at us until we covered him. Oh and this little boy could jump!! Not like a normal dog, but like Snoopy...with all four legs.
He started failing on 9/15/2013. He would not eat and I knew that was the first sign of renal failure. Everyday he would try to eat a little and did really well until Friday 9/20/2013. Then nothing. I took him to the doctor today in hopes that it was not what I knew it was. No tests were done. The doctor knew. I held him until his little heart stopped beating and told him how much we loved him and that he was going to see his daddy and not to be afraid. I wish I could have seen your reunion! I am sure you were just as happy and surprised to see him as he was to see you. Take care of him Davey and make sure he has a clean sweater and that he is always covered. Until we meet again. Love to both of my boys..... Love Mom aka Granny

Happy 27th Birthday
Happy Birthday Davey. I can't believe you are 27 years old! Some people say that you "would" have been 27 but you "are" 27, just in Heaven. Your birthday never changes and just because I can't see you doesn't mean you are not a year older. I know that God prepares a beautiful place for us there in Heaven for our birthdays. As a child growing up, I remember when someone had a birthday at church we always said this poem to them: "Many happy returns on the day of thy birth, may sunshine and gladness be given. And may thee dear Father prepare you on earth for a beautiful birthday in Heaven". Back then the words meant nothing to me. Now it has a whole new meaning. I visualize you celebrating your birthday with God and what a glorious celebration that must be.
Dad and I went to Rose Hills as always to celebrate your birthday. Autumn and Raegan spent the whole day with us too. Autumn had to explain to Raegan now that she is 3, where we were and what we were doing. She told her that it was Uncle Davey's birthday and we were going to celebrate it. Raegan asked where Uncle Davey was and Autumn reminder her that you were in Heaven with the angels. Raegan's response: Is he playing baseball there??? I am sure that Autumn told her that you were!
Others came to celebrate with us and it warms our heart to see each and everyone of them. Karen, Danielle, Alicia, Alyssa, Ted and Melissa came as well as some of your friends, Rey, Christian, Brad and Josh. Of course they brought something to share with you. I tasted it only because it was for you. YUCK.
Love and miss you son. Until we meet again.... Mom
